Dance4 – Research Artist

Katye is a Research Artist at Dance4. Katye is beginning a period of practice and research that focuses on the unique information that a dancer performer holds in the act of and immediate afterwards of dancing. Her two main themes for this work are that of Surrender and of the Afterwards. Katye believes that this particular knowledge has application way beyond the dance arena and can afford insights toward the way that we choose to live and relate.

This work is supported through partnerships with Siobhan Davies Dance, Sadlers Wells, Independent Dance, Dance Hub Birmingham and here at Dance4. Her research in Nottingham includes workshops and sharings with the local dance communities and conversations and time spent with people who are involved with the care of those supporting women giving birth and those offering care at the end of life.

Katye begins a period of work with staff at Nottinghamshire Hospice in January 2019 where questions of support and daily experience will be touched through simple body based tasks.
